Mileage tracking app with accelerometer-driven motion design for iOS and Android.
Case study
MileIQ came to us with beautiful designs and a hard technical constraint: a mileage-tracking app that runs quietly in the background, driven largely by the device's accelerometer. We created the iOS and Android applications from those designs, running motion studies and animation explorations to get the feel exactly right. The goal throughout was an experience that stays superbly unobtrusive — tracking every drive without ever getting in the user's way.
Product

“The team was driven, talented, and enormously self-sufficient. Product, design, and development truly ran as one well-oiled machine."
Andrew McLeod Head of Engineering, MileIQ
How we'd build this today
Technical
Validation contracts set explicit drive-detection accuracy and false-positive thresholds up front — testable, not judged by feel.
Business
When trust in the automation IS the product, evidence it was tested to defined accuracy bars is an edge with users and investors.
This project predates Cortex — this is how we'd approach the same problem with it today.
